Description barrie backhurst 2012-12-07 19:54:51 UTC
After upgrading to gst-plugins-bad-0.10.23, trying to play mp4 files in KDE with phonon-gstreamer as the backend results in a black window. It matches these reports

http://flavio.tordini.org/forums/topic/gstreamer-bug-affecting-ubuntu-12-04-and-other-recent-linux-distributions

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gstreamer0.10/+bug/973014

the hack/fix suggested works and I have confirmed this on 2 machines

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.set gstreamer as the kde phonon backend
2.update gst-plugins-bad to 0.10.23
3.try to play mp4 file in dragonplayer
Actual Results:
no video or sound, just a black window

Expected Results:
video plays
