We probably need a new, easy-to-use front-end for bugzilla. mcummings@gentoo.org (new junior developer) has said he's willing to help out. It should be easy to ) Submit an ebuild [karltk@gentoo.org has code for verifying correctness and well-formedness of such a submission; if desired each submission could be tested to contain sane ChangeLog, sane digest, and sane ebuild code before it was added to bugzilla]. ) Make a bug against a package [here we really want to have a template bug report that users filled in] ) Make a generic feature request In general, the bug submission procedure should be step-wise and well-explained with on-screen help. We also want to have a page with a lot of standard queries, as the query builder is daunting to for most newbies and simply tiresome to old-timers. ) One-click listing of bugs assigned to a particular developer ) Average bug turnaround time ) List all critical/blocker bugs
Other work is being done to address this issue (humbug). We'll just have to endure bugzilla for a bit longer.
