When attempting thin plate spline transform using the -tps option with gdalwarp, it complains about missing ATLAS or LAPACK libraries. I do have sci-libs/lapack-reference installed. Couldn't find any use flags in the ebuild which appear to pull relevant libraries in. May be a use flag issue with a depended-upon library. Just traced the TPS transform functionality back to sci-libs/armadillo, which has neither the use flag for atlas or lapack set. Re-emerging sci-libs/armadillo with USE='lapack' then re-emerging sci-libs/gdal solved this problem for me. Therefore, looks like the armadillo use flag for gdal should require the lapack use flag for armadillo. I presume the atlas use flag for armadillo may also work.
