The page at http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Software-RAID-HOWTO.html says:

> This HOWTO is deprecated; the Linux RAID HOWTO is maintained as a wiki by the linux-raid community at http://raid.wiki.kernel.org/

So I think we should update the link in the Gentoo/x86 Installation Tips & Tricks guide.

it is accurate for the old 2.4 kernels referenced at the time this old article was written. the article covers the 2.4 kernel series.

more to the point, the one maintained at kernel.org is also inaccurate, since it recommends users have a 2.6 kernel rather than a 2.4, and we've since moved on to 3.x.

ah, i was looking at the articles written by drobbins on software RAID. the link in the x86-quickinstall guide should indeed be updated to the slightly newer doc on kernel.org. fixed! :)
