Todays stabilized ati-drivers-12.11_beta cause graphical corruption with kde-4.9.3, xorg-server-1.13 and gentoo-sources-3.6.6 on amd64. I'm using a AMD Radeon HD5770. I already tried using older kde versions (4.9.1, 4.9.2 before they were deleted from tree), xorg-server-1.12.4, gentoo-sources-3.5.7 The latest working version is ati-drivers-12.8 with xorg-server-1.12.4 I tried it also with a clean xorg.conf generated via aticonfig --initial, no changes. The graphical corruption in kdm are grey boxes filling the login fields, so you can't see what you type. After login the taskbar is greyed out, and the window frames are broken. Window freeze after a few clicks included. Personally I think you shouldn't stabilize a binary beta with watermarks that are enabled by default. AMD should have its reasons to mark it as "Testing". The only good thing about the stabilization is the support for xorg-server-1.13, if it works. I was unable to find other reports of this. Is there a bug open at the unofficial tracker http://ati.cchtml.com/ ? If so please link it here. Is there anything about your cairo/qt that you would describe as nonstandard?

I'm not sure if I have the same problem as the OP, bug I can confirm the instability of the 12.11 beta drivers where 12.8 works: http://ati.cchtml.com/show_bug.cgi?id=657
Problem still exists with ati-drivers-12.11_beta11 xorg-server-1.13.0-r1 qt-4.8.4 kde-4.9.90 gentoo-sources-3.6.8
I tried again with ati-drivers 13.1 and recreated my xorg.conf It seems to work now. I consider this issue as resolved.
