I confirm the patch works, it installs and works perfectly. (I did tested the chat and file transfer though) Thank You!
What about skype static linked with qt? It's not supported anymore?

Any idea when this will appear in Gentoo?

CC'ing Justin who did the last bump. He may be interested in this one as well

In portage. Thank you for reporting (and ebuilds, diffs)
I'm confused by the ebuild that hit the tree -- why is x11-libs/qt-core:4 required for amd64 ?
(In reply to comment #13) > I'm confused by the ebuild that hit the tree -- why is x11-libs/qt-core:4 > required for amd64 ? qt-core:4 will provide command `lrelease` the skype ebuild is using to build translation files, it's there to ensure the generated files are up-to-date (and compatible with system's qt4) i've been bouncing back and forth with the issue, and finally decided it's best to just always run the update i can be convinced otherwise, but pulling in something minor as qt-core:4 which you can build without USE flags, it always gets you the lrelease command
Thanks for the explanation. Just to install qt-core is a 280MB source download, and Googling around it seems like a few MB after being built, so altogether it's rather heavy for my tastes. I commented out this dep and the src_compile subroutine in the ebuild, and put it in my personal overlay. Works fine for me, though I only use English.
