I knew md5sum is different from sha but I could not find the command to use for like an hour even with google :( Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: RTFH Actual Results: In case you wonder if your downloaded file is corrupted or not, you can check its MD5 checksum and compare it with the MD5 checksum we provide (such as install-amd64-minimal-<release>.iso.DIGESTS). You can check the MD5 checksum with the md5sum tool under Linux/Unix or md5sum for Windows. Expected Results: sha512sum -c install-amd64-minimal-20121107.iso.DIGESTS nobody checks the sums just me ?
maybe the url is not clear, the bug is in the handbook: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-amd64.xml?part=1&chap=2
Thanks for the report. However, next time please read the bugzilla guidelines to understand how to file a bug for our documentation. And don't change the importance of the bug on your own
Thanks for reporting. I've updated the documentation in our repo so it should show up on the site in an hour or so.
