Description Elias Probst 2012-11-10 17:58:20 UTC
The current xinetd file provided by any version of media-gfx/sane-backends uses the service name 'saned' which isn't defined in /etc/services (checked for baselayout 2.1 and 2.2), neither as primary name, nor as alias.

This results in the following syslog message when enabling the service and starting xinetd:

Port not specified and can't find service: saned with getservbyname

This can be fixed by changing the 1st line of files/saned resp. /etc/xinetd.d/saned from:

service saned

to

service sane-port

This is not an upstream problem, as the xinetd file is provided by Gentoo through ${FILESDIR}/saned

Yep, I messed it up. The user supplied file I modified was ok. Will fix it soon, but am too busy right now, sorry.

Silently corrected since this will affect only very few users. Thanks for the hint.
