Hello,

I tried installing a new kernel using genkernel (kernel 2.4.23), and it was unable to locate busybox:

* gen_die(): Could not find busybox source tarball: /usr/share/genkernel/pkg/busybox-1.00-pre3-patched.tar.bz2

Now I have no idea where it decides to take this file, but I don't have it, nor does any mirror seem to have it. I am using the latest genkernel version for the stable tree. Any idea what might be wrong ?

Try running etc-update and ensuring that genkernel.conf is up to date?
