RepoMan sez: "If everyone were like you, I'd be out of business!" I needed some time to figure out that this was a success message. It uses bad english, bad syntax, it's not clear. repoman should try to be usefull and understandable at any point, especially on status messages. gentoo is not a small amount of geeks now, such message doesn't fit with the community imho Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.repoman 2. 3. Actual Results: RepoMan sez: "If everyone were like you, I'd be out of business!" Expected Results: RepoMan status : "there is no error/warning I could verify. Your ebuild(...) is clean"
shouldn't this be a blocker ?
I think it injects a small amount of humour into what's usually a very boring process - please leave it in. Having said that I see no reason why there couldn't be a more sensible message at the same time.
agreed, leaving the messages as they are is fine with me ... james summed it up nicely
I also agree with James. The entire repoman experience is something right out of The Sopranos and has been that way for a long time. To change it now would take away a bit of Gentoo culture.
well I don't see why it has to inject an amount of humour. But actually I don't really care. I'd be happy if an easier message could be added. For non english speaking people, such message is difficult to understand PS : what's a blocker?
martin was refering to Severity and i think he'd be wrong in considering this a 'blocker' bug
Maybe we should change the colors of "RepoMan sez:" to yellow/red on warnings/errors ...
It seems this bug is not a bug, and there is no necessity to change the message of repoman. The dialec is part of the fun, and devs are not everyone, they are warned about repoman, and they know it. -> INVALID
