I would love to see zfs support added to the minimal install CD. Right now as a repair environment I am forced to use bloated LiveDVDs which are slow to load. Zfs support on a minimal CD would be pretty unique as far as I am aware. I don't know of any other minimal ISOs which include zfs support.
The only LiveCD on which the current ZFS packages can be used is the amd64 LiveCD. It is theoretically possible to include it on the x86 and arm minimal installation media as well, but those architectures will require tuning vmalloc until upstream does page cache unification. I plan to expand ZFS support to all Gentoo architectures, but the current situation is that amd64 is the only architecture on which I can recommend its inclusion in the minimal install media. The packages that need to be installed are: sys-kernel/spl sys-fs/zfs-kmod sys-fs/zfs
I've updated the amd64 specs to include zfs support[1]. [1] - http://git.overlays.gentoo.org/gitweb/?p=proj/releng.git;a=commitdiff;h=fdf9a3075eb8d315cfe303dc7e0c32994af1e707 I'll ask you to test when I get a new admin-cd built.
Please test my latest build of the admin-cd[1], [1] - http://www.jmbsvicetto.name/releases/amd64/hardened/20121210/admincd-amd64-20121210.iso I've had some issues building the admin-cd on the new releng box, but it is part of the official specs, so after the issues get fixed, it will be available through our mirrors.
ZFS does not appear to be in the current isos.
Please test with my latest admin-cd[1] [1] - http://www.jmbsvicetto.name/releases/auto/amd64/hardened/20130318/admincd-amd64-20130318.iso
