Created attachment 327934 [details, diff] mesa-8.0.5.ebuild Release notes: http://www.mesa3d.org/relnotes-8.0.5.html This version finally resolves a long-standing texture bug for GM45: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48120#c10 More importantly, a new emul-linux-x86-xlibs bump based on this version would solve bug 405473. The attached ebuild was test-compiled and installed, should be fine, it just needs a new mesa-8.0.5-gentoo-patches-01.tar.bz2 without obsolete 0004-cve-2012-2864.patch

What does 8.0.5 offer over 9.0, or why would someone not want to use 9.0 instead?
I'm perfectly fine with using mesa-9.0, but the latest emul-linux packages bump which I tested only included mesa-8.0.4 despite being stamped 20121028. So just in case there is anything holding back mesa-9.0 I opened this bug (supposing this is a precondition for getting a higher version for an emul-linux bump).
Closing, given the stabilisation list in bug 440872.
