Description FieldySnuts 2004-03-07 19:19:09 UTC
I emerged net-analyzer/snort-2.1.0-r1 , and configured it. I've used snort in the past so I am quite familiar with it.

/etc/init.d/snort start says "ok", however looking at syslogs:

snort: FATAL ERROR: unknown preprocessor "\210

I emerged net-analyzer/snort-2.1.0-r1 , and configured it. I've used snort in the past so I am quite familiar with it.

/etc/init.d/snort start says "ok", however looking at syslogs:

snort: FATAL ERROR: unknown preprocessor "\210ÿ^[^H_decode"

I took a look in all the config files, grepped for that string and also just "210ÿ" and found nothing. I'm not quite sure what's going on here, perhaps a string that is not showing up in vi that I can't find and fix.

Any ideas?

Comment 2 FieldySnuts 2004-03-08 12:48:07 UTC
Silly me, /etc/snort/snort.conf some how was left over from a previous install in the past. I had assumed emerge -C snort would remove it.

This bug can be killed.
