In the build log you can see this:

Compiler: diet x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -nostdinc
Compiler flags: -march=k8 -O2 -pipe -g0 -Wno-pointer-sign -mpreferred-stack-boundary=4 -falign-functions=4 -falign-jumps=1 -falign-loops=1 -Os -fexpensive-optimizations -fomit-frame-pointer -Wall
Linker flags: -Wl,-O1 -Wl,--as-needed -Wl,--hash-style=gnu

The last -O option on compiler flags is -Os, so it will be used instead of mine, -O2.

Also, the build log is not verbose, and EXTRA_ECONF="--disable-silent-rules" or appending V=1 to emake don't work for me.
