Description Eric F. GARIOUD 2012-10-26 07:16:46 UTC
I am not a Gentoo Dev but am, for the time being, the only active maintainer of the sys-kernel/ck-sources package.

I would find convenient to be able to change the status of the bugs related to this package.

If this is technically feasible and does not infringe any policy to grant me the appropriate rights, I would be grateful.

Reproducible: Always

The bugzilla rights are global and cant be granted on package basis. Why do you want to change the bugs of this package? proxy-maintainers already help you maintain it

We would find convenient you join us as a gentoo developer to have fun with ck-sources and other stuff.

:o)

More seriously, you may want to contact Mike Pagano (mpagano@gentoo.org) if you haven't already, and discuss this with him.

Denis.

Hrmm... I feel just too ol^H^H young to pass exams...

More seriously :

Merci Denis !

As for disturbing Mike Pagano with devrels enhancement requests... well... I prefer he concentrates on the requests I made concerning the kernel-2.eclass...

Fair enough! I apologize for the noise.

You are correct and I thank the proxy-maintainers (and you in particular, Markos) for this.
However, it appears that we do not share the same interpretation of bug management.
I make no doubt that, because of our relative experience of bugzilla, yours is certainly the right one. But my mailbox gets actually confused (and me incidentally as well...) when summaries are arbitrarily changed and bugs arbitrarily flagged resolved-duplicate by some bug wrangler.

As a consequence of all this, I but would be happy if we could at least agree on the following :

1/ Bug wranglers do not change the summary of ck-sources related bugs.
2/ Bug wranglers do not flag a version bump bug I submit, resolved duplicate of whatever other bug.
(This in order not to mix valid with non valid attachments and for my bug to serve as a clean changelog.)

Well... I think this reasonable but will survive if it can't be accepted.
If it can't be accepted... well... I... apply for the position of Head of Bug Wranglers...

We tend to merge bugs when they concern the same version of a package. So for example if there is one bug saying "please bump app-misc/foo-1.2" and another one saying "foo-1.2 needs blah to work" then we merge both in a single bug with an appropriate title. Whatever this title may be. It does not really matter and we mostly care about committing all the appropriate bits and not what the bug title is ;)

Having said that, closing this as WONTFIX. You can contact mpagano@gentoo.org if you are interested in helping out with the kernel. He can grant you bugzilla rights as well if needed.
