Description brad 2012-10-24 06:54:48 UTC
trying to install embedded and you find out quickly it is impossible because the last update to it was 2008.
I looked in 20 mirrors and found nothing better.

!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy ">=dev-libs/expat-2.1" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- dev-libs/expat-2.1.0-r2 (masked by: EAPI 4, invalid: SLOT is undefined)

The current version of portage supports EAPI '2'. You must upgrade to a
newer version of portage before EAPI masked packages can be installed.

For more information, see the MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge
man page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook.
(dependency required by "dev-lang/python-2.7.3-r2" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "sys-apps/portage-2.1.11.9" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "portage" [argument])

 * IMPORTANT: 7 news items need reading for repository 'gentoo'.
 * Use eselect news to read news items.

I barely hacked EAPI 2 on.

PLEASE fix this asap!

Are you talking about something that you installed in 2008, or some stage3 released by a Gentoo sub-project? Or something completely different?
Comment 3 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-10-25 16:12:09 UTC
I guess you could follow the embedded handbook, create a cross-compiler and build a system from there.
