The output you posted explains you need either USE=server or USE=monolithic if you want USE=crypt: net-irc/quassel:monolithic - Build Standalone client with integrated core, no external quasselcore needed. Only useful if you don't want to use quassels client/server model. The server and X flags are not needed in this case but it is possible to enable them too.

Shouldn't it be possible to install quassel on Client side with X and crypt enabled without the server component? Why is the server flag necessary on client side when I want to configure the Client/Server model?
