Description The Janitor 2004-03-06 14:43:39 UTC
the install scripts misses the failed user and reported 'success'.

From the build:

>emerge apache-2.0.48-r1
...
>>> /var/www/localhost/icons/world2.gif
>>> /var/www/localhost/icons/world2.png
>>> /var/www/localhost/cgi-bin/
>>> /var/www/localhost/cgi-bin/printenv
>>> /var/www/localhost/cgi-bin/test-cgi
install: invalid user `apache'
 *
 * Generating self-signed test certificate in /etc/apache2/conf/ssl...

From startup:
 * Mounting network filesystems...  [ ok ]
 * Starting apache2...apache2: bad user name apache  [ !! ]

unmerging and restalling (ugh, shades of windoze!!) fails.

Seems like no one tested this on a fresh install, or that there is a prerequisite missing in the ebuild...or maybe only games work on Gentoo.

does 2.0.48-r2 or r3 or r4 install properly?
Comment 2 Martin Holzer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-03-10 12:03:56 UTC
fixed in eclass
