Description Andreas Plesch 2004-03-06 02:01:54 UTC
emerge -pv foomatic warns about a bad digest. The user concludes something fundamental may be wrong with his system. Then, however, emerge foomatic proceeds to correctly install. The user is more confused.

It turns out the foomatic ebuild is only for bundling and tracking and does not itself any sources for which a digest could be computed.

emerge/ebuild should probably check for this condition (empty SRC_URI and emty digest) and then not complain or only mildly complain.

What is the solution, if any, from a users standpoint?

There is no error, just a misinterpreted status message (I'll check options to improve this).
