Description Pieter Van den Abeele (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-03-03 14:20:59 UTC
Portage is smart enough to come up with an ordering based on the DEPENDs.

Suggestion:

- introduce a groups notion
- introduce a resuming feature

emerge group1-of-ebuilds
touch milestone1
emerge group2-of-ebuilds
touch milestone2
...

determine location where to resume based on the milestones.

do you recommend going about this? putting all of the packages on one emerge line?
ie emerge foo1 foo2 foo3 ... fooN?
Comment 2 John Davis (zhen) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-13 12:52:37 UTC
catalyst no longer runs multiple emerge commands, but it does not have milestone support as of yet.

actually, milestones/ multiple processes are two diff bugs. closing for accounting reasons, please re-open a new bug regarding the milestones.
