As suggested by Diego on the mailing list, it would be better if we used:

1) USE=upnp for port forwarding using UPnP-IGD,
2) USE=dlna for multimedia magic using UPnP/DLNA.

This way, people who only want port forwarding using UPnP wouldn't get additional dependencies and code for DLNA which they have no use for.

Note: this is a tracker. Please file bugs for the packages separately, and make them block it.

Looks like there was no objection to the following on mailing list so I propose we apply this now:

> Proposal descriptions:
> upnp-av - Enable UPnP Audio/Video streaming support
> upnp-igd - Enable UPnP port mapping support

But that actually causes a number of people to lose their used UPnP/IGD support because of flag being renamed.

Is that a strong objection to the change or ?

I wouldn't call it strong. But I see no point in making things twice as worse.

We reached a compromise that USE=upnp-av will be used for UPnP/AV.
