This problem is only present when you try to use the splitdebug FEATURE. I have changed the summary of this bug.
I think splitdebug is not the problem, but it's very weird. That failure it's very random. I have tried to install a lot of times with this command: USE="elibc_glibc examples kernel_linux test userland_GNU" FEATURES="sandbox splitdebug test userpriv usersandbox" emerge -1 gprolog Sometimes fails, and sometimes not. I tried it on x86 and amd64. Sometimes fails with the "Translation aborted" error, same as Paweł, and sometimes fails with this one: (.text+0x3b4): undefined reference to `predicate(parse_user_cstr/3)' parse.o: In function `predicate(e_bloc/3)': (.text+0x1af0): undefined reference to `predicate(close_list/1)' compile.o: In function `predicate(e_bloc/3)': (.text+0x1af0): undefined reference to `predicate(close_list/1)' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status compilation failed make[1]: *** [fd2c] Error 1
Thanks for spending some time investigating this Vicente. Ultimately these compile errors are caused by the gplc compiler not running safely in parallel. Some gplc debugging shows: $ make -j4 <snip> gplc -o fd2c --no-fd-lib --min-bips fd2c.o read_file.o parse.o compile.o gplc -c --fast-math fd2c.pl gplc -c --fast-math read_file.pl gplc -c --fast-math parse.pl gplc -c --fast-math compile.pl wam2ma: file_name_out: /tmp/gplcU85V7c.ma wam2ma: file_name_out: /tmp/gplcS85V7c.ma wam2ma: file_name_out: /tmp/gplcpa6V7c.ma wam2ma: file_name_out: /tmp/gplcpa6V7c.ma ma_parser: cannot open input file /tmp/gplcpa6V7c.ma (No such file or directory) Translation aborted compilation failed make: *** [compile.o] Error 1 I've informed upstream about this gplc limitation; in the meantime I've restricted the build to -j1. Marking as FIXED-via-workaround.
(In reply to comment #3) Ok Keri, thanks :-)
