On my computer is says "Unable to find iasl, please install iasl" during configure. Probably a missing dependency.
(In reply to comment #2) Got the same error 64bit gentoo. tools use settings: emerge -pv xen xen-tools app-emulation/xen-tools-4.2.0 USE="hvm qemu xend" app-emulation/xen-4.2.0 USE="" The problem after the fixed buggy patch is that the ipxe.tar.gz seems to be to old. The next file to patch(qib7322.c) is not found. I get the latest git rep tar.gz and build a changed xen-tools-4.2.0.ebuild. This file is not nice and you must press <y> to submit the boot_prompt_option.patch patch in etherboot.

the version -4.2.0 in the virtual overlay isn't broken, it's, well... The revbumped version in portage is a viable version, added during December.
