After emerging the patch (emerge ut2003) running $UT2003DIR/update/loki_update or $UT2003DIR/update/update will list ut2003 as having the 2107 patch. The games-fps/ut2003 shows that it's the 2225 patch which, by loki_updates point of view is incorrect. Well, since we don't use the loki_setup that comes with UT2003 and rather use the ebuild to do everything manually, the loki_update that ships with the game doesn't work. Start the game. Go to Play Online/LAN. Look in the upper right corner. It says version 2225.
