The Rythmbox-project was splitting there releases. There is one stable-tree and one development-tree. Actually development-tree is versioned with 0.7.0 but there is no eBuild in the portage tree. Maybe it is a good idea to reproduce splitting of the tree in gentoo, with using rhythmbox and rhythmbox-dev for the packages. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
This depends on all the development gnome stuff - which is not ready. Guess this needs to wait till gnome 2.6/gstreamer 0.7 is released?
simon is correct : rb 0.7 is a dev releases, we try to keep those out of the tree. Come back when rb 0.8 gets released. For now we only support the 0.6 release. rb 0.7 is not very stable anyway (yeah blame gstreamer ;)

Just wanted to say that I experienced major problems with the two latest versions of Rhythmbox available in portage. Even to the point that 0.6.8 always crashed at every start-up. Then I hacked the 0.6.8 ebuild to work with latest 0.7.2, it emerged properly and works flawless now! Not a single crash so far! I really suggest to get that version masked into portage.
