Description Rutger ter Borg 2004-02-29 07:34:52 UTC
Plee see http://secure.netroedge.com/~lm78/kernel26.html. Lm-sensors 2.7 is for the 2.4 line of kernels, which is deprecated. So installing a 2.7 version on a 2.6 kernel is probably not the best idea, however this is the only unmasked version atm.

Is this still an issue? The lastest lm-sensort in portage is 2.8.1

With kernel ck-sources-2.6.4-r1

My emerge --info :

My /etc/portage/package.unmask :
 sys-apps/lm-sensors
 net-www/mozilla

My installed lm-sensors version :
 Latest version installed: 2.8.5

An emerge -up --deep world :
 Calculating world dependencies ...done!
 [ebuild N ] sys-apps/i2c-2.8.1
 [ebuild N ] sys-apps/lm-sensors-2.8.1

2.8.1 version of lm-sensors should not be proposed.

Comment 3 Travis Tilley (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-01 04:11:29 UTC
2.8.5 was masked in package.mask, which has been removed as of yesterday. 2.8.1 is perfectly valid for those who go against recommendation and use a 2.4 kernel on amd64.
