I am not sure this is a bug, but I found in
gentoo-headers-base-3.5.tar.xz://rip-headers.sh:
       for srctar in . /usr/portage/distfiles ; do
                srctar=${srctar}/${src}.tar.bz2

I dont have /usr/portage/distfiles
because I use different PORTDIR and DISTDIR

Reproducible: Always

rip-headers.sh isn't used to build+install the headers.  it's used by developers (i.e. me) to build the tarball.
