Description Linken 2002-06-29 13:29:14 UTC
gentoo 1.3b, stage 3 install, kernel 2.4.18 (xfs)

# emerge blackdown-jre
# env-update
# emerge mozilla
# env-update

error:

LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library
/opt/blackdown-jre-1.3.1/plugin/i386/mozilla/javaplugin_oji.so
[/opt/blackdown-jre-1.3.1/plugin/i386/mozilla/javaplugin_oji.so: undefined
symbol: __vt_17nsGetServiceByCID]

mozilla works fine, but i'd really like to use the plugin!

None of the java folks have released a version of their java software which is
designed to be compatible with GCC-3 Mozilla, you will therefore find that none
of the precompiled binary plugins for java will work with GCC-3 Mozilla. This
is not something that we here at Gentoo Linux can address, please take it up
with the distributors of the Java JDK/JRE packages.
