kde-base/kdepim-runtime-4.9.0 has hit the tree, but I cannot emerge it because kde-misc/akonadi-google-20120619 blocks >=kde-base/kdepim-runtime-4.8.50. Is there a reason for the block? I could find no bug reports mentioning that akonadi-google would not build against KDE-PIM 4.9.0.
You will need net-libs/libkgapi with KDE SC 4.9, which is automaticly pulled in by kde-base/kdepim-runtime[google].

That won't resolve the blocker. kde-misc/akonadi-google-20120619.ebuild specifically has DEPEND="!>=kde-base/kdepim-runtime-4.8.50". Adding USE="google" doesn't fix that.

Adding USE="google" doesn't fix > that. Please note the blocker is there for a reason to prevent that you to get file collisions, you will need to uninstall akonadi-google first. Please read gentoo handbook (working with portage section). You cant install akonadi-google and KDE 4.9, thats what the blocker says!
(In reply to comment #3) > You cant install akonadi-google and KDE 4.9, thats what the blocker says! The critical piece of information I was missing is that the functionality of akonadi-google has been *moved into* kdepim-runtime in KDE 4.9.0, so having akonadi-google installed is no longer necessary; Akonadi now makes use of libkgapi directly. An eselect-news item to that effect would have avoided the confusion.
