Get ready for the regression party.
I just renamed the old ebuild: builds and runs without error on 64bit system. Previous propriatary nvidia drivers - after correct patch against priv escalation applied - should have reduced extra features.
Forgot to tell: 304.37 seemingly has made Nvidias internal QA process: It is announced as official.
It also appears to address the vulnerability of bug #429614.
304.37 supposedly has some early xorg 13 ABI compatibility. http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTE1OTM Has anyone had any luck using the 1.12.99.904 xorg-server build with nvidia's new 304.37 driver?

I tried earlier this evening. Unfortunately, as has been the case for me with all of the 304.x series drivers they don't quite yet work with the new xorg ABI. On my ~amd64 laptop w/ and Nvidia 7950GTX Go card I can get to the KDM login screen with no issues, then the animated splash begins, but as the KDE logo appears the screen goes blank, the X server crashes and the process is repeated indefinitely. On the positive side, these drivers appear to solve several visual anomalies that I've experienced with previous 304.x and 302.x series drivers. So they are a definite improvement. I hope this helps
Just renaming the ebuild for 304.22 to 304.37 works fine where with GNOME 3.4.2 and xorg-server 1.12.3. I was even able to remove the buggy gradients patch from cairo 1.12.2-r3 and confirm that 304.37 fixes performance issues with gradients.
In my comment #7 I should have more clearly stated that the improvements I experienced were with xorg-server-1.12.3 and KDE-4.9.0. As with the poster above, I just renamed 304.22 ebuild and commented out the patches. So far after a couple of days usage, I've found no issues. Flash is working with no discoloration and games seem to be behaving as expected.
