This ultimately results in dbus errors and an aborted session: klauncher(23249) kdemain: No DBUS session-bus found. Check if you have started the DBUS server. kdeinit4: Communication error with launcher. Exiting! kdmgreet(23243)/kdecore (K*TimeZone*): KSystemTimeZones: ktimezoned initialize() D-Bus call failed: "Not connected to D-Bus server" kdmgreet(23243)/kdecore (K*TimeZone*): No time zone information obtained from ktimezoned Downgrading to xorg-server-1.12.3 resolves the issue, so something got foobar'd between those two versions.

Google finds one more instance of the problem, though not a proper bug report. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=653142#c8 Please also attach your Xorg.0.log from the session that crashed (when the X server is restarted, it will be renamed to Xorg.0.log.old).
I'll have to re-emerge 1.12.99.903 and capture that. Don't have a copy of it anymore. Won't have time to do that until this weekend.
The problem is no longer reproducible for me with xorg-server-1.12.99.904. Also don't know if it makes a difference or that it even matters at this point, but xf86-input-mouse was also upgraded to 1.8.1 along with the minor bump in the xorg-server version. Only reason I made that change was it was in the ~arch tree when I sync'd earlier this morning.
