Description Davide Ferrari 2004-02-26 11:31:14 UTC
If I press F to switch to FS while watching a video and then I press F again to return to the windowed mode, it's shown only a portion of the previous FS video in the window (as thre's a mask with a hole on the FS video), and I have to resize a little the window to get normal playback aspect.
I'm using as back-end MPlayer 1.0-pre3 and as video output XV (the default one of KMplayer installation)

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

same problem here, but it only occurs with mplayer-1.0_pre4. mplayer-1.0_pre3-r5 and older versions work well, at least for me. using xv, too.
Comment 2 plasmagunman 2004-05-06 13:28:28 UTC
ah, could be importanat as well: using fvwm as windowmanager.

Hi!

it is similar here: I start mplayer and press F for full screen. After pressing F again, i get back to windowed mode. Now I move the window. When I try enter fullscreen by pressing F, then it does not enter fullscreen corectly.
Instead the window gets maximized to what is my full screen resolution, but it is not at the right position. looks like the window geometry is wrong.

if the window was at coordinates 400x400 (top left), the I get by pressing F a fullscreen at the same top left coordinates: 400x400-1280x1024 instead of 1,1,1280,1024.

looks weird.

and sometimes, when I enter F, it maximizes, but I can still see approx. 20-30 pixels ontop of the screen -> the gnomepanel and a bit of the background.

Using: mplayer-1.0_pre4-r4, gnome 2.6
It is reproducable.

I have put two screenshots online to make you see the bug: http://www.rootdir.de/screenshots/

It tuns out that this bug is only an issue with some windowmanagers. Either try another windowmanager or wait for mplayer-1.0pre5 which will fix this bug, as far as it seems.

I got it working with a patch which I got from a guy on IRC. I put the patch here: http://www.rootdir.de/files/mplayer/ But it is inofficial and not supported, though it seems to work fine. So use on your own risk.
I tried openbox and metacity with success.

For example aewm++ and oroborus seem to not need this patch, as they dont show the bug.

<EvilGrin> and didn't break anything obvious

This will be rolled out in a _pre4-r5 release- hopefully in a few days (latest being a week).
