Description Abri le Roux 2004-02-26 07:18:17 UTC
Hi there,

The current Gnomemeeting ebuild doesn't seem to enable support for Firewire cameras.

Basically, you'd just need to install libraw1394, and libavc1394 (and libdv for non DV-Camcorder firewire cameras).

You'd need to compile pwlib (at least 1.5.2 AFAIK) with "--enable-firewiredc". And as for Gnomemeeting itself, you'd need to change a couple of Environmental variables (CXX and LIBS) before running ./configure.

Here are the complete instructions : http://www.rmatsumoto.org/camera/dc1394-ohphone.html

Thank you very much!

Oh yea, I forgot to say, to add support for Firewire DV camcorders you'd have to use the "--enable-firewireavc" ./configure option for pwlib.

Well, I don't know since when it's been working, but I'm happy to report that my Firewire DV cam works fine in Gnomemeeting 1.0.2. (I had to play a bit with the permissions of the firewire devices, but that's unrelated..)

Thanks ^_^
