config.log

Attempting to upgrade to coccinelle-1.0.0_rc14 which was recently added
to the tree fails:

  checking for PCRE... yes
  configure: configuring package pcre
checking for OCaml findlib package pcre... not found
configure: error: OCaml package pcre is not available but requested explicitly

Looking at the config log, it seems that the configure script is failing
to find ocamlfind...

  checking for x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-ocamlfind... no
  checking for ... no
configure: ocamlfind not found. Trying substitute /var/tmp/portage/dev-util/coccinelle-1.0.0_rc14/work/coccinelle-1.0.0-rc14/setup/fake-subst.sh ocamlfind.
  checking for x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-ocamlfind... /var/tmp/portage/dev-util/coccinelle-1.0.0_rc14/work/coccinelle-1.0.0-rc14/setup/fake-subst.sh ocamlfind

...even though it exists:

  % /usr/bin/ocamlfind query pcre
  /usr/lib64/ocaml/pcre

As a workaround, setting EXTRA_ECONF='--with-ocamlfind=/usr/bin/ocamlfind'
seems to allow the build to complete successfully. On the other hand,
coccinelle 1.0.0_rc12 builds fine.

Is this one of those packages that need to be rebuilt after a dev-lang/ocaml upgrade?

By "this" I mean findlib, not coccinelle.

What provider and version are you using for virtual/pkgconfig? I ran into this with earlier versions of pkgconf but =pkgconf-0.8.5 works fine.

Nevermind, I can still reproduce it.
Comment 6 Tim Harder gentoo-dev 2012-08-03 00:25:38 UTC
Fixed in CVS in a slightly hacky way due to upstream's mixed usage of autotools and straight makefiles. This should be fixed once upstream fixes the bug and regenerates a working configure file.
