You have been given preliminary access to our master rsync at rsync1.us.gentoo.org. Pleas sync from there from now on, at the appropriate times listed in our rsync server document. Also, I have requested all mirror admins be subscribed to our mirrors mailing list, in which we send out annoucenments and updates with regards to our mirrors. Please dmwaters@gentoo.org to be added to gentoo-mirrors.
Comment 2 Dinesh Mistry 2004-03-04 10:15:46 UTC
rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (213 bytes read so far)
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(165)
End: Thu Mar 4 13:05:00 EST 2004

I am still getting access denied.

Thanks

I have added this IP into our acess list, could you please post what IP you are connecting from? I have 64.27.65.115 in our access lists which doesnt seem to be working.

Thanks,
jeffrey

Perfect seems to be working like a champ, should I leave the distfile mirror to rsync from

www.ibiblio.org::gentoo

Thanks
Comment 7 Jeffrey Forman (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-03-04 11:07:27 UTC
No, you should be synching from rsync1.us.gentoo.org which is the private mirror I gave you access to. Thanks!

Ok I am dumb :( what am I doing wrong..

bash-2.05b$ /usr/bin/rsync -azv rsync1.us.gentoo.org::gentoo /var/ftp/gentoo/
gentoo-rsync.afn.org (flick.nerdc.ufl.edu)
Service provided by the Open Systems Group at the University of Florida.

@ERROR: Unknown module 'gentoo'
rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (161 bytes read so far)
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(165)
Comment 9 Dinesh Mistry 2004-03-08 07:08:13 UTC
@ERROR: auth failed on module gentoo
rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (690 bytes read so far)
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(165)

This is what I am getting when trying to sync from gentoo@rsync.osuosl.org::gentoo

Thanks!

It looks like you arent using the correct password. Please try again, if you do not have the password, please post a bug and I can email it to you.

Thanks,
Jeffrey

I have added your distfiles mirrors into our mirror listing on www.gentoo.org. Thanks for the help and bandwidth! We are currently revisiting our mirror structure, to further accomodate more mirrors in the US. So at present, we are not adding any more rsync mirrors, but we will keep you informed on when that status changes. Please continue to sync as directed. Thanks!

For Infrastructure,
Jeffrey
