Upstream has a version 1.2.9 which claims to build "with newest cups", however it still does not build with 1.6.
*** Bug 432512 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
OK I got a pm from upstream (busy with real life, no cups-1.6 atm, will look at this when there's time, but may take a bit). Means problem is known, and will be dealt with eventually. If anyone can come up with a working patch here, I'll be happy to forward it.
Same problem with 1.2.9 here too
Cups 1.6 suffers from incomplete headers. That is: we have ipp_t defined as a typedef of _ipp_s which is public ok, but _ipp_s is not defined if we are not Cups "private" code. Cups has poor programming quality. Here is a hack to have gtklp been cheating as Cups native code, allowing to including private type definitions. Though I don't know how to turn this into a cool gentoo-patch. Note: you have to create the etc/portage/patches/net-print/gtklp/gtklp_with_cups_1.6.patch file prior. This is shell code below: # cat /etc/portage/patches/net-print/gtklp/gtklp_with_cups_1.6.patch --- configure.in.org 2012-10-02 10:40:40.419477596 +0200 +++ configure.in 2012-10-02 10:41:34.754798310 +0200 @@ -85,6 +85,8 @@ CUPS_CFLAGS="`${CUPS_CONFIG} --cflags`" CUPS_LIBS="`${CUPS_CONFIG} --libs`" CUPS_LDFLAGS="`${CUPS_CONFIG} --ldflags`" + # cups 1.6 hack + CUPS_CFLAGS="${CUPS_CFLAGS} -D_IPP_PRIVATE_STRUCTURES" if test x$enable_ssl != xno; then CUPS_CFLAGS="${CUPS_CFLAGS} -DHAVE_LIBSSL" fi # ebuild /usr/portage/net-print/gtklp/gtklp-1.2.9.ebuild unpack # ( cd /var/tmp/portage/net-print/gtklp-1.2.9/work/gtklp-1.2.9/; patch -p0 < /etc/portage/patches/net-print/gtklp/gtklp_with_cups_1.6.patch ) patching file configure.in # ( cd /var/tmp/portage/net-print/gtklp-1.2.9/work/gtklp-1.2.9/; . autogen.sh ) # chown -R portage: /var/tmp/portage/net-print/gtklp-1.2.9/ # ebuild /usr/portage/net-print/gtklp/gtklp-1.2.9.ebuild merge This works here at least.
patch works @ Portage 2.1.11.27 (default/linux/amd64/10.0/desktop, gcc-4.5.4, glibc-2.15-r3, 3.5.3-gentoo x86_64)
Hi. Version 1.2.10 is out and compile problems are fixed for cups 1.6. I tested and it emerged successfully. From the upstream changelog: "23.10.12 version 1.2.10 out. This version should compile against cups 1.6"
Renaming gtklp-1.2.9.ebuild to gtklp-1.2.10.ebuild solved the issue for me.

I > tested and it emerged successfully. > From the upstream changelog: > "23.10.12 version 1.2.10 out. > are there any plans to get gtklp-1.2.10 into portage? submitted a request and ebuild to get 1.2.10 version-bumped. works fine for me (in an overlay). https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=455330
Fixed in 1.2.10 and so in cvs.
