VirtualGL 2.3 wants to write to /etc/VirtualGL which is bad (for me /etc is mounted ro on a SSD. /etc is not a place to write session data to. It would be better during installation to create e.g. /var/lib/VirtualGL and to install a symlink to this directory as /etc/VirtualGL.
