Latest stable release of R is 1.8.1 with 1.9.0 due out soon, whereas gentoo is lagging two years behind with 1.6.1 being the latest stable release. I have been contributing RPM's of R for Mandrake to CRAN in the last three years or so, if the builder of the 1.6.1 ebuild is willing to "tutor" me on this a little I could do this myself (I have no experienc with ebuilds). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
1.8.1 is in portage since tuesday last week. Seems we just didn't move anything from ~x86 to x86 for a while, that's our fault. 1.8.0 is now officially declared stable (has been around since last October), 1.8.1 can be emerged with ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge R Thanks for the hint.
