After installing google-chrome-21.0.1180.49_beta147161, the "chrome://plugins" displays nothing and the directory /usr/lib/nsbrowser/plugins directory that the ebuild seems to use contains nothing owned/installed by the chrome package Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge google-chrome 2. run it 3. see that no plugins are installed

This just adds --extra-plugin-dir=/usr/lib64/nsbrowser/plugins to the startup wrapper (/usr/bin/google-chrome) to point google-chrome to /usr/$(get_libdir)/nsbrowser/plugins, a common dir for plugins. For example, I have 2 packages providing file there www-plugins/adobe-flash (/usr/lib64/nsbrowser/plugins/libflashplayer.so) app-office/libreoffice-bin (/usr/lib64/nsbrowser/plugins/libnpsoplugin.so) These show up on chrome://plugins. It does not install plugins, it just enables this system-wide plugins dir. The mechanism itself should work (I just checked beta and unstable).
I assumed that pepperflash was supposed to show up regardless and I had unmerged adobe-flash just to make sure it wasn't causing a problem. In any case, now that I've reinstalled adobe-flash now chrome://plugins displays a bunch of different plugins that I've installed over time. Strange.
