net-print/hplip-3.12.6 fail to scan on Photosmart_C309a via xsane.
Downgrading to net-print/hplip-3.12.4 resolves the issue

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. On a system with Photosmart_C309a configured in net-print/hplip-3.12.6
2. Enter xsane

Actual Results:  
Error popup:

Failed to open device hpaio:/net/Photosmart_C309a_series?ip=192.168.250.197 failed: End of file reached

Expected Results:  
xsane scan UI displayed

Can you scan with hp-scan? If yes this can also be a bug in sane not getting along with changes in hplip.

If hp-scan fails as well can you please open a bug about this upstream at https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip and report the bug number here?

I have not raised a bug at  https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip becuase when I tried to register the confirmation key that was sent was rejected.

Please try again. Here I can not do much to fix this bug. Chances are higher if this gets reported upstream. It also does not make much sense if I open the bug myself as everything which I get asked there I have to forward to you which makes things complicated.
