XEmacs 21.4.15 was just released this month (February 2004). The latest version of XEmacs that can be emerged is 21.4.12. Newer versions of XEmacs 21.4 have been available since May 2003. XEmacs 21.4.12 has a nasty bug that causes XEmacs to lock up on Linux systems. Therefor it is important to have a newer version available for emerge. I was able to build 21.4.14 using the 21.4.12 ebuild file. Not modifications were necessary. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Expected Results: Expected to me able to emerge relatively recent XEmacs 21.4 version.
It also works with 21.4.15, copying as-is the 2.4.12 ebuild.
I got it working (21.4.15) in four machines: o Athlon XP 2400+ o Pentium 4 1.8 GHz (laptop) o Pentium 3 1.3 GHz (laptop) o Pentium 2 800 MHz
21.4.15 is available in portage. Please close.
Latest stable version of XEmacs is now available in portage (with several bug fixes).
XEmacs 21.4.17 is now available. I was able to get it installed by copying xemacs-21.4.15-r2.ebuild to xemacs-21.4.17.ebuild. I'll attach the changed files.
Created attachment 61422 [details] Modified ebuild.
Created attachment 61423 [details, diff] Changed patch This patch is only a couple of characters different from the previous one. It goes in .../app-editors/xemacs/files.
Created attachment 61424 [details, diff] My local patch, for completeness This is a patch I wrote to work around a font problem. It also lives in .../files.
I should mention, I commented out one patch entirely (quick-fix.patch) that failed to apply. That's because it seemed to be related to the powerpc architecture, which I don't use.
