During a world update python-2.7.3-r2 was pulled in as a dependency of sys-libs/tdb-1.2.9. I have USE="-python" set as this is a minimal server system and only have python3 installed. If python is truly an optional dependency of tdb then can we remove the hard dependency, otherwise can we remove the "python" USE-flag as it is confusing. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. run USE="-python" emerge -pvtu sys-libs/tdb on a system without python2 Actual Results: server alex # USE="-python" emerge -pvut sys-libs/tdb These are the packages that would be merged, in reverse order: Calculating dependencies... done! Build system of sys-libs/tdb-1.2.9 requires Python 2. Python 2 can be uninstalled after installation of sys-libs/tdb-1.2.9. Dependencies are correct.

OK, that makes sense. However Python 2 will still be pulled back in each time I update @world. I wonder why upstream suddenly started using Python in their build system? AFAIK, the previous version did not. I guess this can be closed then.
