Description Mohaa 2012-07-01 20:54:08 UTC
Shotwell has a menu to retrieve the location of the image/viedo files in its library.
But instead of going for the directory, it seems like the whole path to the image/video file is used. Thus the file-manager (NAUTILUS) fails to open the location of the file with the message stating that "location is not directory".

(In my case, this bug is experienced with all these versions of shotwell : 0.12.1, 0.12.2, 0.12.3. hence the 0.12.x in bug summary)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. load Shotwell
2. right-click on file in Shotwell gallery
3. choose menu "Show in File Manager"

Actual Results:
fails to open file location
with an error message saying that location is not directory.

Expected Results:
should show file location in a file manager (nautilus)

I don't think this is a Gentoo specific bug. Could you notify upstream about that?
Comment 3 James 2012-08-14 18:21:56 UTC
I'm getting this problem with 0.12.* too. It is not present in 0.11.6.

Like I said, someone has to report this to upstream developers

Closing as NEEDINFO. Reopen this bug if/when you report it upstream
Comment 6 Mohaa 2013-03-22 22:28:15 UTC
Bug still rolling in shotwell-0.14.0-r1.
This could be gentoo specific since I did not notice it on my other desktops.
Comment 7 James 2013-03-22 22:42:41 UTC
I'm using shotwell-0.12.3 and it works fine with thunar-1.4.0. Back when I was using gnome 3 I seem to remember nautilus-3.4 working fine with it too.

Perhaps it is just a nautilus-2.32 problem? I think >media-gfx/shotwell-0.11.* is meant to be used with gnome 3 anyways.

As of now I only go by gnome2, so maybe it could have something to do with old nautilus.
Yet, I did not notice such information as "meant to be used with gnome3" in docs or website.
