Created attachment 316885 [details, diff] Stop hddtemp from waking up drives app-admin/hddtemp-0.3_beta15-r3 and app-admin/hddtemp-0.3_beta15-r4 as currently available in portage wake up sleeping drives. SATA drives in my case. As a result monitoring tools such as xfce4-sensors wake up drives that have been deliberately set to sleep/standby. Unfortunately I cannot find a place to have this fixed upstream. Some distributions have this already fixed. Such as debian here: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=479840 I have tested this with hddtemp-0.3_beta15-r3 and attached the patch for this specific issue. It works fine in my local portage overlay when added directly after the iconv.patch already present in the ebuild.
