Description yannek 2004-02-21 07:45:11 UTC
Browsing websites using Hebrew Characters, only some of them are shown correct in Firefox and Konqueror, and some are "cyrillic"(boxes with numbers in it).
Google came up with this:

http://mirror.hamakor.org.il/archives/linux-il/09-2003/5339.html

Which sounds quite familiar.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.surf to  http://www.linux.org.il/
2.
3.

Actual Results:
The lines are mixed glyphs hebrew/nonsense

Expected Results:
Readable Hebrew

Perhaps an updated urw-font ebuild for urw-fonts-2.1-5.0.src.rpm (as found with
rpmfind.net) would fix this. I'm not able to write this ebuild, sorry.

Hi, I've just updated urw-fonts to 2.1 (taken from Fedora).
Does that solve the issue?
Comment 2 yannek 2004-05-25 05:46:58 UTC
I'm sorry, I teared down my x86 system since then and builded up an ppc system.
Furthermore I merged the Culmus-Fonts and the Problem din't even rear it's ugly head. A cannot confirem therefore on the original problem.
But I've tested the new Nimbus & co in Gimp and they seem to be complete this time.
To put it short: As far as I'm concerned the urw-fonts work now as expected. Thank you.

A little Problem with the ebuild itself is:

>>> Unpacking urw-fonts-2.1-7.src.rpm
>>> Unpacking urw-fonts-1.0.7pre22.tar.bz2 to /var/tmp/portage/urw-fonts-2.1/work
tar (Kind): urw-fonts-2.1.tar.bz2: Kann open nicht ausf

tar (Kind): Nicht behebbarer Fehler: Programmabbruch.
tar: Kindprozeß gab Status 2 zurück.
tar: Fehler beim Beenden, verursacht durch vorhergehende Fehler.
>>> Source unpacked.

In english:
>tar (Kind): urw-fonts-2.1.tar.bz2: Kann open nicht ausführen.: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden
>tar (Child): urw-fonts-2.1.tar.bz2: can't execute open.: file or directory not found

Yet it doesn't seem to hinder the further merge, strange ...

The original problem occurs when you emerge urw-fonts-2.0-r1, while
you tested urw-fonts-2.1 this time. I'd assume the problem is fixed in
2.1. I forgot to add "|| die" after tar in src_unpack() and didn't notice
that error. It's fixed in CVS. Thanks for the bug report.
