As above. Emerge works fine (once openmosix was disabled), but trying to launch the browser opens an alert window witht he above content -- no commandline output, and the process terminates. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. /etc/init.d/openmosix stop 2. emerge firefox 3. % firefox Actual Results: The alert window appeared, click "ok" and the process ends. Expected Results: Firefox should have launched Portage 2.0.50-r1 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.3.2, glibc-2.3.2-r9, 2.4.24-openmosix) ================================================================= System uname: 2.4.24-openmosix i686 AMD Athlon (TM) Gentoo Base System version 1.4.3.13 distcc 2.11.1 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [enabled] Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.58-r1 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.7.7 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-march=athlon-tbird -funroll-loops -pipe -O3" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=athlon-tbird -funroll-loops -pipe -O3" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs buildpkg ccache distcc sandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://mirrors.tds.net/gentoo http://gentoo.chem.wisc.edu/gentoo/ http://gentoo.seren.com/gentoo http://mirror.cpsc.ucalgary.ca/mirror/gentoo.org http://mirror.clarkson.edu/pub/distributions/gentoo/" MAKEOPTS="-j3" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="3dnow X alsa apm avi berkdb cdr crypt cups dvd encode esd foomaticdb gdbm gif gpm gtk gtk2 imlib java jpeg libg++ libwww mad mikmod mmx mpeg ncurses nls oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl png python quicktime readline samba sdk sdl slang spell ssl svga tcltk tcpd tiff truetype usb x86 xinerama xml2 xmms xv zlib"
I appologize. This was easily solved be reading the release notes. All the same, as most people (whom I know) don't read release notes when issuing the command # emerge world, adding something to the output in the ebuild might help. Sorry for the confusion.
Nothing more to add.
