Description Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2012-06-17 18:36:53 UTC
Today I saw this message:

WARN: postinst
If you plan to use lbase aplication you should enable java or you will get various crashes.

As the problem looks important enough, I think that you should default to "+java" for libreoffice-bin to get it working properly if possible, and only let it break if people want to merge it without java support.

Thanks

Reproducible: Always

It aint important enough.
From the survey on lo only 1in80 installs actually require the base tool.

And it crashes just if there is no db backend.

By me WONTFIX

How about a compromise: modify the notice to be more specific...

"If you need to use LibreOffice Base with a database backend, then you should enable the java USE flag for app-office/libreoffice-bin. Otherwise, Base will crash."

Fixed in 4.2 series and maybe it will be backported to 4.1 series.
The fix was really heavy and now it won't crash if it won't find the hsqldb.
