Description Matt Summers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-06-15 13:52:27 UTC
archives.g.o does not include sidebar.g.o for sponsor message display. It should. I would send a patch but I think the code is not available.

Reproducible: Always

it's just stock guide.xsl, that's way out of date

I updated the guide.xsl, but I see the new version has broken the left sidebar menu.

I've CC neysx+swift so they can help figure out why, as our XSL folk.

Just FYI, nesyx is long gone.

I've fixed the links on archives.gentoo.org, I'm not as interested in fixing the sidebar, but I could be coaxed with booze.

Is there some reason finch doesn't pull down the xsl automatically?

If this problem is still to be investigated/solved, would it be possible to have information on the structure/setup of this page? Is the XML file (that acts as the main page) auto-generated?

It seems that the "sourcing" of the /xsl/menu.xml file fails, or cannot be applied XSL-wise. However, if I download the main page myself (http://archives.gentoo.org/?passthru=1) and run it locally, the left navigation bar works well.

Also, http://archives.gentoo.org/xsl/menu.xml is (properly) available as well it seems (not up2date, but available).

Does the local XSL processor give anything back? If not, can I provide a slightly updated guide.xsl to test out?

Archives hasn't been updating in years, so I think in terms of priorities, it would be to fix that, as opposed to adding ads to out of date mailing list posts.

The current archives code will be replaced soon. The new theme does not provide space for the current sidebar.
