Description giggles1 2004-02-18 20:41:02 UTC
After every emerge I get:

>>> original instance of package unmerged safely.
>>> Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache...
 * Caching service dependencies...
sed: Couldn't flush stdout: Broken pipe

Interstingly enough, this doesn't happen when I run depscan.sh or env-update.sh by hand, but only /sbin/env-update (or when emerge finishes):

laptop env.d # depscan.sh
 * Caching service dependencies...                                                                     [ ok ]
laptop env.d # env-update.sh
laptop env.d # env-update
 * Caching service dependencies...
sed: Couldn't flush stdout: Broken pipe [ ok ]
laptop env.d #

I have looked up and down in these scripts and I can't even find where sed is being used. I have tried reemerging: portage, coreutils, sed, and python.

Mosty a just a nuisance (I think) but I'd like to know whats going amiss.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

3.

I get this too, although with a sed error too. Everything still works though.Hope this extra info helps.

ElGuido: your CONFIG_PROTECT is screwed up ... CONFIG_PROTECT is not : delimited

I haven't seen this problem at all since upgrading portage a while back. I'm gonna assume whatever it was got fixed by accident and close this.
