When removing/destroying a VM, virtualbox hangs and the following errors get spewed in the kernel log:

[  385.855361] unregister_netdevice: waiting for vboxnet0 to become free. Usage count = -1
[  395.878178] unregister_netdevice: waiting for vboxnet0 to become free. Usage count = -1
[  405.893145] unregister_netdevice: waiting for vboxnet0 to become free. Usage count = -1

This happens when running a newer kernel (gentoo-kernel-3.4.0 in my case)

Reproducible: Always




This bug has been reported to VirtualBox. A fix for their network driver has been committed to their svn repository, but a release with the fix is not yet available:

There has way too much changed in VBoxNetFlt-linux.c file to apply this changeset directly. So I'm afraid we have to wait for the 4.1.18 release.

This should be fixed with virtualbox-4.1.18 which is in portage since yesterday. Can you confirm this?
